![]() This is what the bulldozed area looks like where the security road will be. The area to the left will beisolated inside the western side of the fence, inmbetween the Greenline and the fence. This particular area in the photo was in Zeita - one of the villages most affected by the 'security wall.' |
![]() This greenhouse is in the village of Izbeit Salman and was marked for demolition to make way for the 'security wall.' |
![]() This is a photo of me at 'the security wall' in Qalqilia. I was there with a gal from Berlin who told me that it was 2x as high as the Berlin Wall. It's made of huge slabs of cement. The thing behind me is the tower. | ![]() ![]() |
![]() | ![]() | ![]() On the left side of the fence in this photo is the illegal Israeli settlement of Shaare Tikvah (literally in hebrew: "The gates of hope"). It was built on the land between the Palestinian villages of Izbeit Salman and Beit Amin. On the right side of the fence, a young boy and a villager stand next to a greenhouse in front of cactus plants. Hundreds of years ago, Palestinian farmers would plant cactus to mark the borders of their land. |
![]() This is a photo through the rear window of a Red Crescent ambulace which damaged during an incursion into the city of Tulkarem. Two of the ambulances at the Tulkarem Palestine Red Crescent Society have been completely destroyed. This particular ambulance was inoperable for 2 weeks; because of the curfews, there was no chance to fix the shot-out tire or replace the rear window. There were also 6 shots to the body of the vehicle. The bullet that entered this window and ricocheted through the ambulance up to the drivers seat and also slightly damaged the steering wheel. |
![]() This photo is in the town of Zeita where the trees have been cut and uprooted in preparation for the construction of the so-called "security wall". Of the trees in this plot of land, all except for two had been cut. In Zeita, in addition to the bulldozer, contractor, and military and private security escorts, businessmen have been coming with trucks to steal the cut olive tree branches and trunks. The olive tree parts are driven out of the village and into Israel to be sold to craftsmen (usually Palestinian) in Jerusalem and Bethlehem in order to make handi-crafts. |
![]() Across the new "Trans-Israel Highway" and opposite "the wall" enclosing Qalqilia, an Israeli group of peace activists from Gush Shalom, joined by international activists demonstrated on top of a hill. On the other side of the wall on the roof of the girls' school inside Qalqilia, a group of Palestinian and international activists held a similar demonstration. The two groups waved flags and communicated by cellular phones and megaphones. A ridiculous image, but true to the future of the two peoples. |
